Not sure why I am always amazed at how fast time flies but I am. It’s been over a month since we started our fundraising effort and to date we have received about 60% of our monthly budget needs. God is so amazing! Thank you so much to all of you who have donated and joined us on our journey. You are such a blessing to us!!
People have asked us: So what does your budget needs include? Living expenses including food and utilities, emergency evacuation, costs of flights to/from USA and Kenya, housing including purchasing furniture and housewares (we will be the first missionaries for Oasis for Orphans in SW Kenya so we will have to furnish our rental unit completely), and medical expenses to name a few.
Besides our fundraising efforts Deb and I have been blessed with friends who have created fund raising events for our ministry! Pete Kippes and his Prairie Dog Riders are riding their bikes 75 miles from Lombard to Lake Geneva on May 31st. There are also two shorter rides that day. For information about this event and donating to the riders go to: http://www.firstgiving.com/fundraiser/PeteKippes/ride-for-africa-ruzga-missionaries.
Also a group of our friends will be hosting a Steak Fry and Silent Auction in McHenry at the VFW (3002 Route 120) at 6pm May 31st. There are some amazing donations for the silent auction that you will want to make sure you get a chance to bid on!! More information and ticket sales will be available soon so save the date!
Finally a brief update on The Shelter Project. Caleb (The Shelter Director) has been working with local Kenyans on removing the large rocks that are on the property which must be cleared. We are also in the final phases of reviewing proposals to build the guard house and fence from several local Kenyan contractors.
As they say in Kenya: Slowly by Slowly we will get there! Blessings to all of you!
